Not too complicated.
Consumers have spoken with their wallets in this "age of convergence"
and are not buying MS Media Center PC's in droves because they want a
DVD player that just works like it should instead of the litany of
weird things they may have to deal with n a Media Center PC.
A $39 DVD player does just what it should; play DVD's so why do I need
a $3000 computer for this ?
On that account Ed I think you're quite right. Simple dingle purpose
devices are still largely what people want because they do one thing
and do it well instead of trying to be everything to everyone
