Joe,

        It sounds like you are storing your messages internally and that
the load on heap and memory increases with each message. If you
have a memory card in your newton, reject it and reinsert it. I
think you get a nice check box asking if you want to use it for
storage when it's put back in. Otherwise, try a preference
setting. The resetting is "helping" because it clears out your
heap for you.

        If you are already storing stuff on your memory card, see if
it's aprroaching being full, which could cause the same sort of
behavior. Experts on this list have suggested that one should
keep about a megabyte of memory free in the onboard newton memory
and between ten and twenty percent of a memory cards free for good
performance.
