Gaudo,
First, make sure your wifi access point is wide open,
no encryption or passwords required for access. Are
you using a Mac or PC? If you're a Mac user, can you
connect your Newton via Newton Connection Utilities or
other connection software?
Second, I suggest you take a look at the SimpleMail
manual (even if that's not the email program you're
using, although I recommend it highly). The manual has
an excellent walk through for configuring your Newton
for email with screen shots that will allow you to
check all your setups and settings -- owner info,
internet setup, wifi setup, appletalk selection. This
was the guide that first got me through making email
work on my Newt.

You may also want to try the Courier web browser, or
Newtscape, both of which are still supported, unlike
NetHopper.
