I would use the one that works with your router. As for the gateway, what is
the IP address of your router? It is probably the Gateway address. You must
either use DHCP or fill out all of the manual entries including the gateway
for it to work. I have used both on my Newton but found the manual entry
method more stable.

I have two static DNS addresses, one that my ISP gave me to use with
dialup (works with dialup) and the other that I used setting up my
wireless router.
