OK, I have to bite. How do you know, what is a great battery charger? I have
the following two:
Maha MHC-204F
Lenmar Pro744
How the sam hill do you test them prior to purchasing them or even after
purchasing them for that matter? Some type of resistor?

I agree with Frank, as I deal with a lot of rechargeable battery systems. If
you want good cells, and don't mind paying a little extra, go to a battery
pack supplier/importer and ask for the "A-Grade" cells, and match them up.
Great charging systems don't affect slight mismatches in battery capacity,
but most people generally get the cheaper chargers, don't know how to charge
them properly and then wonder why their cells/packs die after 6months or so
of use.
