Actually, this is reminescent of an even more ancient AT&T EO ad. You may recall the TV add of a person reclining on the beach and a voice-over saying "someday you will be able to send a fax from the beach..." they never show the product. This ad was played from several different locations...each saying that "someday you may...."whatever...!
