> What size washers work best? I can't find one small enough...
The washer I have been using has an outside diameter of 10mm, a hole
(ID) of 3.4mm and thickness of 0.9mm. It's nickel plated steel.
The OD is large enough to span the two springs to stop them escaping,
the ID suits the bolt being used and the thickness makes it strong
enough to take a crease and hold it.
