Maybe a complete memory wipe might be called for... others more qualified can
advise on procedures to take prior to the wipe though

I've tried uninstalling all packages then reinstalling them as
suggested on the Mail V page, nothing more, same problem.
And I came to realize that I can receive messages even with this bug,
but I cannot send any. All messages stayed in the Outbox.
