[NTLK] Noob Question 2: Connecting with AppleTalk and an Asante Bridge: Need HowTo

I have been struggling with an eMate and a PowerBook G3 (Pismo)
trying to get them "talking"

The hardware I am trying to use is an Asante LocalTalk Bridge box

All the hardware appears to be functioning properly, but the eMate
will not connect.

As I type, the Pismo is booted in OS 9 with NCU running. I think I
configured the eMate to "dock" thru the localtalk.

It is stuck, looking for a machine to connect to.

I would like a painfully detailed how-to, please.
Assume nothing is properly configured on either end so that I can
check what I have done.
I've tinkered with it so much today I cannot be sure what I did.
