Re: [NTLK] I need a PDA, is a Newton a sane choice today?

I tried to respond earlier and it got rejected for too much quoted
material, but Morgan is dead on. If you need a PDA and you use
Windows on a regular basis, get a Windows Mobile gadget. If you use a
Mac, think about a Palm, but think harder about a Windows mobile
gadget. The hardware is great. The utility is great. MS reader is,
as Morgan said, simply the best, and as I said earlier, the HWR is
pretty good. You can wifi them. Rotate the screen however you want.
Sync with business class email. Use IR or bluetooth keyboards.

Basically, they're modern technology. The Newton, cool as it is (and
I'm seriously considering taking ONLY my Newt to London for a research
trip this summer), is much larger, heavier, clunkier, older, kludgier,
than any modern PDA.

With that said, I'm seriously considering ditching my Palm for my
Newt, but my needs run more toward the palmtop computer than the PDA.
And I'm keeping a very, very close eye on the UMPCs for my next
portable.
