Re. Pen choices:
The pen must feel right in your hand (weight, balance, girth), but
having said that, I can heartily recommend a Waterman Phileas in the
category of new pens. Relatively inexpensive, choice of nibs,
generally a smooth writer. I'd urge you, though, to take a look at
some vintage pens, too.
Re. Ink choices:
Frank Dubiel, may he rest in peace, always suggested Skrip or Quink
(especially Skrip) because it would not ever hurt a pen. That's true,
but the colors (especially Skrip) look rather washed out compared to
other inks. Among commonly available inks, the Mont Blanc seems to
clog pens readily.
Re. Pens in general:
I highly recommend that you join the Zoss Pen Listserve
(http://www.zoss.com/pens/index.html). Post your question there and
you'll be flooded with suggestions.
Cordially,
Tom Zahm
P.S. I fitted an old sliver mechanical pencil with an appropriate
plastic rod and modded my MP130 so that it would hold it in the stylus
holder. Tres chic.
