Hi Winston,

your problem is also defined on the NewtWikiPedia:
http://tools.unna.org/wikiwikinewt/index.php/BootStrapping

You could install the needed packages via infrared using a Mac with
built-in IrDA port, like many Powerbooks and 1st generation iMac.
Note: None of the Macs with bundled Apple Remote will work this way.

Meeting another newtonian who would send you the needed files over Ir
would be the most straightforward process to let you start using OBEX.

Another way is to take use of the the 'Card Lending Program', a
wonderful
and friendly service offered by Paul within North America and by
Frank in Europe.

[Sorry if I am forgetting to mention any other people being part of
the Program]

Have to admit I have really never thought about offering such service
for the 'Newton Bluetooth Experience Initiative'. It would be very
useful,
other than feasible. Infact I could bundle a memory card recorded with
all the needed drivers. Once transferred the files to Newton, the user
could then ship the card back, or maybe keep it.

I'll see what I can do to make this service available directly from
my website.

Until that time, if you are not able, or just prefer to not follow any
of the above mentioned directions, please just send me a confirm
privately,
and I will record and ship to you a memory card as soon as I can.

Cheers, Adriano
