Hello Doc,
you will need to force your Mac in order to make it boot from the CF
for the very first time. The way I make it happen on my Pismo was to
boot it from a external drive connected to the firewire port while
having the compact flash card properly connected to the internal ATA
slot. Once booted I could see the card succefully mounted on the
desktop. At that point I just set it as the system for the next boot
from the Boot Disk pref pane.
If you don't have a firewire port, you could just boot via usb or any
install cd/dvd.
I remember that keeping pressed the option button and manually
selecting the CF didn't work for me.
