That is exactly the situation regarding sources!
No extra machine exists or is necessary: formatting is done inside the
Newt, by "erasing."
That's why there is a "bootstrap" issue: how to get files that permit
communication (ethernet, WiFi, etc.) onto a bare Newt in the first
place...
