[NTLK] 2008 Battery Trick?

I have one eMate and one 2100 with bad batteries -the eMate holds a charge
for about 10 minutes and the 2100 does not power from battery at all (and
when on AC says "replace your battery pack").
 

I finally want to do what it takes to get 4 NiMH batteries in each so these
puppies can put in some work. In August 2008, what's the best trick (or
place to buy everything I need) to make this happen?
