It's not just the file format or formatting utility that the Newton uses on a Linear Flash card that makes that card unreadable in a PC or Mac. It's that neither a Mac or PC have the physical capability to read a linear flash card period. You can use a normal Compact Flash card in a Newton thanks to the good offices of a very talented programmer, and those same Compact Flash cards can be read, with an adapter, on a PC or Mac, but a Compact Flash is a lot different from a Linear Flash card. Once the Newton stores information on a Compact Flash card, neither a Mac or PC will be able to read that information. Hope this helps.
