Warning! Non-technical guy about to wonder about technical things!
Proceed with caution. . . .
In cases like this I wonder if it would be useful to ask the
developer to grant permission for the product to be "open-
sourced" (or whatever the correct term is), so that it can be
distributed freely to the Newton community.

Presumably, if these guys don't have the tools to issue a
registration, they don't have the tools to modify the program to make
registration unnecessary. Is that something that helpful programming
savvy members of the community could do, assuming permission were
granted by the developer/copyright owner?

Or am I asking a way dumb question?
