I have yet to try connecting a USB/serial connection to a more current
Mac.
My Wallstreet G3 Laptop might need a PCMCIA card for USB and Wireless
internet, and may be completely lacking in Firewire but it has one of
those older Mac serial ports. I use that if I need to port something to
the Newton.
