I hesitate to ask this, but: have you since been able
to obtain an appropriate Apple-branded (or at least a
known compatible) power supply?
A search of eBay.co.uk for "emate + adapter" turns up
multiple sellers offering adapters. Unfortunately,
they all seem to be located in America, but they do
offer to ship worldwide.
Of course, while the adapters themselves can be had at
a knock-down price, the cost to ship gear from America
to the UK can still be quite exciting, even with the
US Dollar in Tanking Mode.
If the above suggestion isn't attractive, you may want
to consider a "WTB" ("Want To Buy") post to the list,
indicating you need an adapter and that you're based
in the UK.
(N.B.: I apologize if any of this is old hat to you.)
Best,
James Fraser
