Of course, if there was a way to read/write these from a Win32 system or
Mac, we'd all be set "forever".

You can get a linear 4MB Flash memory card for next
to nothing. Make a full backup and put the card in
a safe place. That way you can always get your Newton
back to the state it is in now if you have to reset
it.
