[NTLK] Can Sony's eBooks be read on a Newton device?

Hi,
as a devoted reader I've been thinking about an eReader for some time.
But since I am also a happy owner of a Newton device :-) I wonder if
there is a way to read Sony eBooks on the Newton?
I also noticed that dowloading Sony eBook requires the WIndows OS -
which seems rather unusual these days.
Can somebody experienced in Newtons and ebooks explain if reading new
titles on a Newton device is possible?
