My wife hated T-Mobile's coverage in downtown DC when her office used
them about 5 years ago.
ATT is $$ (esp. when overseas), but has decent coverage.
I've always heard pretty good things about Sprint (for a phone company
- nobody really loves any of them).
Verizon is a dinosaur, but has coverage +everywhere+...
