The price point is actually not that bad, considering what you're getting (an OLED in each key). Of course, I say that as someone who has absolutely no intention of ever buying one...

I also have to wonder how many cycles the keyswitches in that 'board are rated for. For that kind of money, I hope I could expect a minimum life of ten million cycles, but for keyboard geeks, they don't mention that specification at all.

Anyway, if we're talking about $1,000+ keyboards, (and the fits of insanity needed to purchase them) I'd go with this guy:

Not as sophisticated as the Optimus in a technical sense, but startling keyboards nonetheless. And if you throw him a Model M to mod, I don't see why you wouldn't get a lifetime of service from it. Cool stuff.

Which reminds me: has anyone done a steampunk version of a Newton?
