Dan makes good comments. Original Newton battery sleds are great: I lost a Newton to charging a rebuilt battery.

I use Sanyo Eneloop rechargeables in the battery sled: a bit annoying to have to take them out and charge them, but I think to myself now... no more annoying than having to find the Newton's AC adapter when charging a battery internally...
