I've not seen such sloppy programming, but maybe some did so.
At risk of flames: a date entry is often (usually?) made in system
soup when one first runs a package/app.
I've had success setting that date forward, say a decade or so =
endless trial period.
Some programmers have probably circumvented that tactic: If memory
serves correct, it failed on at least a couple packages: I either
couldn't find a relevant slot, or changing install or related dates
didn't help.
It occurs to me another programmer tactic might be checking the date
of first soup entry. Either deleting it or editing its date might
work. -- Just speculation: I'm just a hack, not a programmer.
Good luck!
