Maybe reassigning your modem to com2 and your Newton to com1 might work.

In terms of files, I think the QF Windows install wanted to put them into a
folder (whose name escapes me now) but I just copied everything in it to the
target folder and then it worked. I don't know why you can't find all the
files.

I am plugged directly into the 9-pin serial port. My modem is evidently
com1 and the serial port is com2. I placed mnp and mnp32.dll and
qfx.xla into the addins folder. I do not know if the other files are
Windows or Apple/Pelicanware (Newton) files. Pelicanware is no longer
around to ask.
