I was immediately impressed by the use of the phrase "Newton/Kindle Killer" in the subject line. I can't speak for the Kindle, as it hasn't even been around for two years yet, but as for the Newton, I've come to think of it as The Undead Platform. :)
I mean, aren't people always ready to write the Newton off, only for someone else to come along and wring just *one more feature* out of it? Or point out *one more thing* the Newton can do that the latest smartphone, "convergent device," whatever, still can't do? How many people read the list, see something on it that grabs their attention, and then drag out their Newton just *one more time* to play with it again?
I aqree that there's been a lot of impressive technology that has come out in the decade since the Newton's official demise. But impressive enough to kill the Newton once and for all? I'm not saying it's impossible, (and a member of this list can hardly claim to be completely free of bias) but I think they'll need to bring a shovel, a stake, and a large hammer for that one. ;)
Best,
James Fraser
