You could also try installing MS Virtual PC 2004 which allows you to load
Windows 9x.  You should get reliable serial connections after that without
needing slowdown.

I did try to connect with a PC that had a serial port but it was still
too fast.  Even 'slowdown' did not help.  I use a USB modem for dialup
on the PC.  I know I could get a USB to serial adapter but this PC (a
hand me down) is a 2.0Ghz Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core.  I don't think it will
recognize the poor little Newton.
