I had applied the patch ages ago, it seems to be holding. It's not an upgraded MP2000, so perhaps it's not really useful to get Bluetooth working on it, but if I found a card at the right price on eBay I might just give it a go anyway.

It's pretty amazing to me that this little machine still works (and the NiMH batteries too) after so many years. I was hoping to make it useful a bit longer.
