[NTLK] Touch screen stopped working, digitizer cable looks great. Ideas?

I'm working on an MP2100 for another list member.

I cleaned out some corrosion in the battery compartment that kept the unit
from running on battery, and patched up a dodgy overclock switch that
sometimes made bad contact.

The whole thing was ready to go and I shelved it for a while.

I revisited it today to restore a backup, and the touch screen no longer
works- seemingly at all. To the point where I can't even say "yes" to a
hard reset, or dismiss the "newton rebooted" dialog.

This unit did have a loose port door I thought might have punctured the
cable, but I got it stripped down and the digitizer cable actually looks
fine. I also tried cleaning the contacts with the main PCB.

Does anyone have experience with this rather curious mode of failure?

Thanks,

- Ian
