Hello Grant
> On the software keyboard, tap shift-\ ... I know it looks like a broken bar, not a solid bar or pipe, but that’s the character I’ve always used. Shift-\ on the physical Newton keyboard should work as well.
Thanks for the tip. I thought the ‘broken bar’ might be the Newt’s idea of the ‘pipe’ character so it’s good to get some confirmation on that. Sadly, it did not work; still getting a DCHP error. I’m now using a TripMate portable router to bridge my WPA2 home network into a non-encrypted WiFi network to make things easier but still no joy. I’ll have to try manual configuration next.
OFF-TOPIC: I also have an old Airport Express that still offers bridge mode with WEP (as long as I ignore the frequent nagging from my Mac to update its firmware). I’m loathe to tinker with that set-up though as it’s currently set up for 128k encryption (no go for my Newt’s Lucent Silver card) so my *whispers* HP Jornada 720 can use emails (WITH ssl) and stream BBC radio - I find the tinny sound quality is loud enough to notice any interesting content but quiet enough to be ‘ambient background’ (the somnolent tones of Radio 4) whilst I’m working. Most importantly, it is quiet enough to not annoy my wife whilst we are both working under close proximity lockdown!
Back on topic (~ish), I heard you can stream internet radio on a Newt too. Is it a special package or just the MP3 encoder and a suitable stream url in NetHopper?
