Tom,

Make sure that NCU is on your startup disk, I had the same issue, when NCU was moved to the same disk as my system folder I
had no problems. This has solved the problem for a number of newtonites. The fact that you are on a Powerbook, a one disk
system probably, makes me think about this. Is NCU is on a removable or partitioned disk? If it is move it to the same disk
as your system.
