I've heard it works just fine with MacOS 9.0. No reason why it wouldn't
(this is a Mac, not Windows; software doesn't require replacement/rewrite
at every major OS update;)

The same way you used it with dialup mail, but instead of PPP you use a
static IP address or DHCP depending on what your DSL service provides.
This assumes you have a 2000 or 2100 or eMate 300 and an Ethernet card.
If not, you may be out of luck, unless you have a MacIP server or
something that'd let you rought IP over LocalTalk or something that lets
you route PPP over a serial cable or something.

USWest ADSL works fine for me on my 2000 and 2100 via Ethernet. I have
static IP addreses, but I could have the DSL Router use DHCP if I
wanted....
