Sorry for the delay, this took me quite sometime to figure out.

I use my Newton to synchronize with a Claris Organizer File running on a
Quadra 605. I had the same problem you are experiencing.

The problem is that NCU times out the connection while the machine is
writing to the Claris Organzier database. Above a certain size
threshold (300K?) for the COrg file, the writing process takes longer
than the connection timeout.

The hack solution would be to edit the timeout preferences in NCU, but
I'm not a hacker so I didn't try it.

What I did was to create a RAM disk big enough for the COrg file.
Before synching and with COrg NOT running and the file closed (as it
should be during a normal synching), copy the COrg file to the RAM disk.

Run NCU and Synchronize with the RAM disk copy of your CO file. Once
your done, copy the RAM disk COrg file back to your hard disk.

It's a bit more difficult than synching with a Palm, but, hey, it works.
Now maybe someone can edit NCU to increase the timeouts and make a
patch . Then we wouldn't need this workaround.

Tasks are a real pain in the butt to synchronize, because sometimes the
Newton will unmark all your finished tasks. I don't synch the tasks,
but I sync names, dates, and notes, and I've tried the workaround with
tasks and it works too.

Best Regards,
