You left out one of the biggest professional Apple user groups, video
production. I have done a lot of thinking on this as I am slowly
joining this group. A PDA Final Cut Pro Assistant would be invalueable
to me. If I could carry my Newton around with me on the shoot and store
a database of all my tapes, scenes, etc. I could be far more productive
in the editing phase. I could set up a shooting schedule in my Newton
and keep track of expenses as I shoot. Then after I apply my schedule
to the actual filming it would keep track of where my scenes are on tape
and how much tape I've used. Then during actual editing the Newton
could sync with Final Cut and actively assist me with finding the
correct bits of film. I could also take my project with me on the Newt
and "edit" on the Newton. Then the newt could transfer the data onto my
computer and Final Cut could assemble all the work I've done on my
Newt. Throw in a screen writing program and you've got a real winner.
Imagine if Apple had kept supporting the Newton OS. How many Newtons
with a Final Cut Assist would they sell? Probably one to every guy who
uses Final Cut Pro.
