I had my right hinge replaced; it had the exact problem described on
Frank's site. Printed the pages, took them to my local Mac tech, and
he fixed it. Worked fine for a few months, then I noticed the display
would bend too far, and the power would quit --!

Took it back to my tech, and he discovered the *left* hinge was broken
-- snapped clean in two.

Fortunately, I had a spare "parts only" eMate, so I was back in
business in no time.
