It looks like you need to set your location properly.
One of the great things on the Newt is that you can select your location
(tell the Newt where you are curently located) and the Newt will set the
environment accordingly (set the correct time, correct dialling prefixes and
the printer connection as well).
So if you properly define for instance home and work you can switch between
the location easily and all the settings for internet access, phone number
prefixes and used printers will be switched accordingly.
So if you define your current work location and set which printer is used
(maybe you need the PrintPack installed) the first choice from any
application will be the one defined in your current location.

So go to settings - owner info - new - work location and you will be able to
define the preferred printer as well.
