i got nie 2.0 and installed all the appropriate drivers:

Newton Internet Enabler
NIE Ethernet Module
Newton Devices
WaveLan driver 1.08b

i set up in "inernet set up using the name of the network in "domain
name"

now what? i tried to set up a workgroup card, but it doesn't have the
same options, as pictured on hiroshi's site. when i insert the card i
get error: 48807

how do i proceed?
