*Fan* bearings? But in sleep mode, the fan in mostly off - the
exception being if I've been using it while charing the battery up to
100% - then the fan comes on for a while.

<chuckle> I remember the first time the fan came on - slowly..
Scared the bejesus out of me - "Oh, God, what's it making *that* noise
for!"
