I checked system profiler in Classic and discovered that I had no
drivers for the keyspan adapter. Duh!
I went to the keyspan site and when I went to download the OS 9
driver I was greeted with this admonishment:
"* IMPORTANT INFORMATION for Mac OS X users: If you are running Mac
OS X and want to use your Keyspan serial adapter in 'Classic', do NOT
install the Mac OS X software. "
Sooooooooo, it looks like a serial connection is not going to be a
good idea unless I find the OS X keyspan driver and get rid of it,
unless someone knows a workaround. And speaking of which, just in
case I'd rather spend my serial ports on the Newton rather than the
very, very rare occasion I use them with OS X, what should I try to
remove to disable keyspan X drivers (what am I looking for and where)?
How about potential alternatives to serial: I've got a Wavelan Bronze
card on the way. Will I be able to hook NCU up with it? Or with a LAN
card?
Thanks,
Jim
