the problem(s) with replacing the 2x00 processor is that the other higher
speed ARM processors do not support "SLEEP" & "IDLE" mode... so there would
be no way of turning the 2x00 "off".. it would just be on all the time..
until your battery dies, a pretty quick death..

go to http://www.arm.com/Pro+Peripherals/MicroP/StrongARM/ to look at the
specs of the StrongARM processors..

specifically http://developer.intel.com/design/strong/linecard/sa-110/ to
see the difference between the actual SA-110 cpus themselves..

and here are the SA-1110 cpus.
http://developer.intel.com/design/strong/linecard/sa-1110/
the "IDLE" mode chews <100mW.. and "Normal" mode eats <400mW.. and to
support USB, you have to use the SA-1111 Companion chip.. and it eats
"Normal" =< 50 mA "Doze" =< 10 mA "Sleep" =< 20 uA, in addition to the
SA-1110..

the pixsolution is just a "overclock" hack.. a very, very good one.. but, it
is a just speed mod..

there is no sense in this.. your basically redesigning the 2x00.. and, there
is no proof that NOS2.x would run on the redesign.. yet another can of worms
that no one has a real fix for..

sorry to pop the bubble.. let's just be happy with what we have..

also, is there any truth to the rumor that Apple has discontinued repair of
the Newton platform?? that would really suck.. i need to send mine in..

AFAIK, Apple is to continue repairing the platform, until 2003.. by Federal
Law..

go by my site.. added some stuff...
