It's working for me at home with an AsanteTalk router.

Yes, that should work

OK, I see. First, don't forget that we're talking about LocalTalk,
that's not serial, even though it's pretty close. That being said, with
the setup you have described, it should work. I was using the printer as
an example because your Newton should see that printer without you
having to install anything on it. If you can't see the printer, then
there is already something wrong and you most certainly won't be able to
access any Macintosh. So, if you want to troubleshoot that problem,
first thing first ;-)

Make sure that you can see the printer from your Newton when you try to
print.

If you can't see the printer with your current network, disconnect the
iPrint box, turn off all your LocalTalk devices and turn on only the
printer. Try to reach the printer again.

If that doesn't work, try to make disconnect all devices, turn off
everything, then plug back the printer and your Newton. Turn them on and
see if you can reach the printer from your Newton.

If that still doesn't work, then there is most likely a hardware
problem. Try connecting your printer with your Newton with different
PhoneNet connectors, replace the cable between the connectors and try
again.

What happens?

-Laurent.
