I'm using a 589C and the current (according to Avi's Backdrop) is ~56
with the MP2100 on (no backlight). This rises to ~116 while the ethernet
card is in use. This isn't bad ... some modems run the current up to ~250.
I use Radio Shack 1000 mAh nicads as I have found they take heavy
current draw much better than NiMH cells.
