[NTLK] Whine on internal mic with MP 2000

Whenever I do sound recording with my 2000, I notice a pronounced whine
in the recording. Could this be the sound of an internal transformer (the
backlight's off during the recording), or could it be a loose connection?
I have opened up the 2000 a couple of times to look around...
