I gave in and got 2 Silver cards from OWC, and have been working on how to
set all this up.
I went back and read ALL the posts from the a1 version onwards.
Two things that are not clear:
When a2 was current, there was a thread about keeping both a1 and a2 on the
Newt at the same time.
Now that a3 is out, it is not clear whether you need a1/a2/a3 all installed,
or just two of them, and if so, which two, or a3 only.
(For the record, the card is recognized with all three installed. I do not
have a base station or a way to get the second card working in my desktop
(have to wait a bit for that...). But I was sniffing for other base
stations that I know are around here...)
Second, most of the recipes were for the original a1 or a2 AppleTalk cxn ->
but TCP/IP was not possible. Does a3 make this possible, or was this an NIE
issue?
Has anyone used an Access Point vs. Base Station?
Also found a useful page on Lucent WaveLAN and laptop installation issues at

BTW, the little cap on the end of the WaveLAN cards (and also on the
ORiNOCO, since they are _exactly_ the same, just rebranded...) are for Range
Extender external antennae - clunky for a Newton, but really useful for your
notebook/desktop.

But as previously noted on NTLK, WaveLAN/Lucent/agere/whateverthehell has
made their technical specs sheets inaccessible, so I have not explored this
further.
Can't wait to e-mail meeting minutes to astonished peers right as the
meeting ends... tee hee.
