Hmmm, maybe something was written in the system prefs, which causes Notes to
behave like this. Try to see if you can find the entry in the system soup
for Notes. See if you can access that entry.
Other than that, I don't know. Before doing a hard reset, you might want to
consider wiping the system soup. Beware that if you do so, you will loose
almost all preferences for the various applications that you use. You will
most likely to have to re-enter all the registration codes for the
applications that need them.
Finally, if you do a hard reset, but restore everything back, you're likely
to have the same problem.
