That's strange. When I export a note using NCU, I get a nicely formatted
RTF file; opening that with MS Word or Apple Works I get something like this:

<<Title: Wed 4/26/00 10:44 am>>
This is just an example for testing purposes.

Alternatively, you could also choose the "Notes (text only)" option.
