I digged a little further and here is the solution:
Sloup stops displaying length number when the heap is full.
(So now I my heap size, about 80-90kB)

That was just the line wrap of wordpad. It was all on one line (v0.1).
Now I have 100 Bytes on a line and then '\'. So that doesn't seem to be a
problem anymore.
It is that the heap is too small.

That was misleading. It was meant as question about Mad Max.
