I also have a quicktake 200 which I got for a bargain several years ago when
digital cameras were expensive. It takes decent pictures at 640x480 so I use
it when I wish to send pictures by email or post on web sites. It saves the
extra step of running an additional program to reduce picture size. I use an
external media reader so that eliminates the need to connect the serial
interface with my imac or powerbook. It takes only the 5 volt media card so
you can't use one of the cheaper 3v media cards available as a replacement.
Those cards are more difficult to find but there was a camera shop in
California which was selling them at $29 (8 MB, largest made). All of my
digital cameras eat batteries like candy so you might consider rechargeable
batteries. Will give you nice photos but if you want more detail, look
around for some of Kodaks refurb models of the 240 or 280 line. They're 1.3
and 2.0 megapixel respectively. Those both work with USB and iphoto so no
need for an external reader and both take advantage of the multimedia cards
which are cheaper each day. The new cameras are cheaper but don't do well if
you drop them as they are made of the same cheap plastic the disposable
cameras are. I think I paid only $89 for the refurb i240 (blueberry) a year
and a half ago and it still takes good pics.
