If you go to eBay and search for anything Mac (or Newton) related,
you'll see several listings for Apple service manuals ... a typical
listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2064420811

(sold, by the way).

I bought one of these from a vendor who's name escapes me (Haliburton
Memory?). What you get is a CD with .pdf versions of all the manuals,
along with an IE and Netscape HTML page which acts as a browser.

Most helpful ... especially with Apple taking down sites that are
offering the manuals.

Of course, once you have one of these CDs, you'll probably want to add
a couple filters to your searches to keep from seeing these results.
I use 'manual manuals ebay automobile' as my filtering criteria now
... but I may have to ammend that to include compaq and toshiba ...
but I digress.

BUT ... I should warn you that the MP manuals pretty much say, "If
there's a problem, call Apple." There is a basic troubleshooting
section in them, but most of the suggestions are in the FAQ. After
you've gone through those suggestions, you're stuck with the 'Call
Apple!' option.

Hope this helps ....
